UF’s new QBs coach Garrick McGee well suited to help Gators replace Kyle Trask

GAINESVILLE — Garrick McGee, a former quarterback, spent his formative years in football surrounded by 10 teammates hanging on his every word and action.

McGee experienced the 2020 season surrounded by four walls, serving in an obscure and unexpected role as defensive analyst for the Florida Gators.

McGee gained a new perspective stashed away on coach Dan Mullen’s staff and working for defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.

Raised by a legendary high school coach in Oklahoma –– his late father, Larry –– McGee mastered the ins and outs of playing quarterback and calling plays. McGee took his offensive know-how to the sideline himself once his playing days, including two seasons at the University of Oklahoma, ended in 1995.
