UF softball coach Tim Walton agrees to 10-year contract extension

When UF coach Tim Walton arrived in Gainesville in 2006, the Gators’ softball program was an afterthought.

Thirteen years later, Walton’s program is a two-time national champion, an SEC heavyweight and a Women’s College World Series regular.

The run of success is unlikely to end anytime soon now that Walton has agreed to a 10-year contract extension that will keep him at UF through the 2028 season.

The school announced the deal Wednesday, five days after the Gators’ season ended with a loss to UCLA in the WCWS — UF’s ninth trip there during the past 11 seasons.
