UF receiver Rick Wells’ six-year journey ends with 23-year-old’s first TD for Gators

GAINESVILLE — UF receiver Rick Wells skipped into the end zone demonstrating an athlete’s agility and a survivor’s spirit.

Wells followed his 9-yard score last Saturday night against FAU with a leap in the air and into his teammates’ arms. Those six points had been six years in the making for the 23-year-old.

“It’s been a long road,” Wells said. “But I feel like it’s been a great one.”

Wells’ path to pay dirt in the south end of the Swamp had not been a smooth one.
