UF earns 6-1 win over Texas, stays alive in CWS

The feeling of dread lingered for much of Tuesday in Omaha, either among those watching the radar or Florida fans hoping to extend their stay.

The Gators finally broke through, and pitcher Jackson Kowar had a career day, in Florida’s 6-1 win against Texas at the College World Series. Texas (42-23) was eliminated while Florida (48-20) moves onto Thursday’s 8 p.m. elimination game.

Mistakes of many varieties led Florida to leave eight men on base through five innings. Kowar hadn’t allowed a run, but clung to a 1-0 lead until the sixth.
