Both inherited programs at the University of Florida with pockets of success and turned them into national powers.
Along the way, softball coach Tim Walton and baseball coach Kevin O'Sullivan have evolved from colleagues to confidants, texting and talking regularly.
O'Sullivan might have a player with a younger sister who isn't yet on Walton's radar; Walton might seek O'Sullivan's opinion on a rule change, like athletic stipends. Each is quick to congratulate the other on his program's success.
