Two Gators picked on second day of NFL Draft

While they may have slipped out of the first round, two UF football players didn’t have to wait too long to hear their name called on Friday.

UF offensive lineman Jawaan Taylor and edge rusher Jachai Polite were both picked on the second day of the NFL Draft. Taylor was selected with the 35th pick in the second round by the Jacksonville Jaguars and Polite was selected with the 68th pick in the third round by the New York Jets.

Both Taylor and Polite saw themselves fall in the draft. Taylor reportedly had health concerns heading into the draft, but Jacksonville’s general manager, David Caldwell, dismissed those reports after selecting him.
