It looks as if former Florida starting quarterback Treon Harris is about to get another chance at a first-string job.

The Tennesseean newspaper of Nashville reports that Harris appears to be the new starting quarterback for FCS program Tennessee State after his primary rival for the position announced he’s transferring.

O’Shay Ackerman-Carter, who previously started for the Tigers, was granted a release from his scholarship in a move that paves the way for Harris to take the starting job. Ackerman-Carter played at Jacksonville Trinity Christian in high school.

Harris started for the Gators for portions of the 2014 and ’15 seasons.
