Reports: Florida DB coach Torrian Gray leaving to take same position with Redskins

Florida defensive backs coach Torrian Gray has been hired to fill the same position with the Washington Redskins, multiple outlets reported Saturday.

Gray, 42, leaves the Gators after one season with the program. He was hired last February after spending 10 seasons as the defensive backs coach at Virginia Tech.

Gray also has been the defensive backs at Maine (2000-01), UConn (2002-03) and the Chicago Bears (2004-05) during his coaching career.

In Gray’s lone season at Florida, the Gators allowed only 148.5 passing yards per game – the second-best figure in the nation.

For Florida, it’s the third assistant coach who has left the program since the end of the regular season.
