Nut Nut, we hardly knew ye.

Florida Gators defensive back McArthur Burnett will transfer, he announced via his Twitter account Thursday evening.

Burnett redshirted in 2016, then played very sparingly in 2017, recording just one tackle as a redshirt freshman. He was unlikely to play a significant role in Florida’s secondary — or on special teams, where he was thought of as a possible contributor once upon a time — going forward. He will have three years to play three seasons of football elsewhere.

Fans may remember Burnett best for an obscene gesture he made toward Tennessee fans after Florida’s 2017 triumph over the Vols, which sparked an almost entirely Twitter-based conversation about how best to celebrate a 12th win in 13 meetings against a hated rival, with fans of the team that lost that game sharing opinions on Burnett’s lack of class — ones that were, oddly, louder than their condemnations of a Tennessee fan documenting his urination on the statue of Tim Tebow that resides outside The Swamp.
