College football teams traditionally show marked improvement between game one and game two. Florida coach Jim McElwain said he’s expecting the same thing from quarterback Luke Del Rio, who will make his second career start Saturday against Kentucky.
In his debut, Del Rio completed 29 of 44 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns in a 24-7 win over UMass.
McElwain said on the SEC coaches teleconference Wednesday that it was a performance Del Rio will build.
“He did OK for a first collegiate start,” McElwain said. “He missed six throws that I know he’d love to have back.
