Florida coach Jim McElwain said Wednesday night that there was “nothing new” to report about the suspensions of Gators wide receivers Antonio Callaway and Treon Harris.
McElwain had a speaking engagement in Tampa on Wednesday night and the Tampa Bay Times reported on his answer when asked about the suspensions.
Both players were suspended for spring practice, and Florida hasn’t commented on the reasons. But Callaway’s attorney said in a March statement that his client was suspended for a code of conduct investigation.
Callaway arguably is Florida’s most important offensive player. He had 35 catches for 678 yards and four touchdowns as a true freshman last season.
