It’s time to make freshman RB Malik Davis focal point of Florida’s offense

Florida found its new offensive centerpiece in Saturday’s comeback win at Kentucky. No, not quarterback Luke Del Rio.

True freshman running back Malik Davis displayed impressive skills, poise and toughness in helping UF climb out of a 13-point fourth-quarter hole in a 28-27 victory. The Gators scored touchdowns on their final two drives of the game to win it; Davis carried 11 times for 53 yards on those drives.

Florida coach Jim McElwain lost his two primary playmakers before the season when receiver Antonio Callaway and running back Jordan Scarlett were suspended for their roles in alleged credit-card fraud.
