Florida Gators coach Jim McElwain was among those who expressed their condolences Wednesday after the death of John Reaves, a former quarterback with Robinson High, UF, the Bucs and Bandits.
McElwain was clearly emotional about Reaves' death when he mentioned it during his opening statement at Wednesday's media day. McElwain got to know Reaves and his family when he recruited his son, Stephen, at Michigan State.
"The Gators lost one of their own in John Reaves..." McElwain said. "I don't think anybody will ever realize how much the Florida Gators truly meant to John Reaves, and my thoughts and prayers are with them.
