Seond-year Florida basketball coach Mike White was afraid he might see a bit of a lull out of his players Sunday at the AdvoCare Invitational.
The Gators were coming off an emotional loss to No. 11 Gonzaga in Friday’s semifinals and a carryover was expected. Two minutes into Florida’s third-place battle with Miami at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports, White had seen enough.
He pulled his starters and substituted five fresh faces, hoping the move would help shake up his squad. For the most part, it worked as the Gators bounced back from a sluggish start and had enough energy to overcome a similar start in the second half to defeat Miami 65-56.
