The day after adding a new assistant coach to his staff, Florida coach Jim McElwain lost another to the NFL on Saturday.
Defensive backs coach Torrian Gray, who spent only one season coaching DBU, is leaving to join the Washington Redskins’ staff, The Sun has confirmed.
McElwain, who filled an opening on his staff with the hiring of West Virginia runnings back coach Ja’Juan Seider on Friday, now has two openings to fill again. The other is on the offensive line, where line coach Mike Summers left earlier last month for the same position at Louisville.
Gray, who coached two likely first-round picks this past season in cornerbacks Quincy Wilson and Jalen Tabor, was considered one of the top recruiters on McElwain’s staff, and played a key role in UF signing a strong secondary class Wednesday.
