Gators lose a cornerback to portal

The Gators suffered a surprising loss on Wednesday morning when redshirt freshman cornerback Jahari Rogers entered the transfer portal, according to a report by Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

Rogers joined the Gators in 2020 as a top-100 recruit out of Arlington, Texas. He predominantly played quarterback in a run-heavy offense in high school but was thought to have all of the necessary physical attributes to transition to cornerback in college.

He played in just three games last season. However, he received some first-team reps this spring and was expected to play a factor in coach Jules Montinar’s rebuilding of the position.
