The second round of the NFL draft promises to be a better one for the Florida Gators.
Three former players — offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, defensive back Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and pass rusher Jachai Polite — are expected to be selected during Friday night’s second and third rounds.
But Day 1 of the draft was a long, disappointing one for Taylor and the Gators.
At least one UF player had been selected among the first 32 players the past six years and during 11 of the past 12 drafts. Taylor sat in the Green Room — where top prospects wait to hear their names called — until the end of until Thursday night’s festivities in Nashville.
