GAINESVILLE — The Florida Gators opens the 2020 season ranked eighth in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, looking build on an 11-season and make a run at the College Football Playoffs .
The Gators ranking is their highest since 2009 during the preseason Coaches Poll, released Thursday by USA Today. UF ended last season ranked seventh in the poll.
Coach Dan Mullen’s third team in Gainesville is among six SEC teams in the Coaches Poll - No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Georgia, No. 5 LSU, No. 11 Auburn and No. 13 Texas A&M. UF is the only Power 5 school in the state of Florida.
