Clear some space in that trophy cabinet in Gainesville: The Gators have won punting awards, turf grass management awards and now a broadcasting award.
Florida radio play-by-play man Mick Hubert was named Florida Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association, the school announced Friday.
Hubert, who has called Gators sports since 1989, is one of 107 sportswriters and broadcasters nationwide to receive honors from the NSMA this year. That list also includes Ole Miss play-by-play guy David Kellum and Missouri play-by-play man Mike Kelly.
Hubert will be honored at the organization’s annual awards weekend on June 25-26 in Winston-Salem, N.
