This time last season, Donovan Stiner was a benchwarmer.
Following Stiner’s game-ending sack at Mississippi State, the Gators’ sophomore safety is affectionately known as “The Waterboy,” a nod to Adam Sandler’s hit movie and sack-happy movie character.
"I kinda brush it off. It's funny though, it's funny,” Stiner said following Monday night’s practice. “(Linebacker) Vosean (Jospeh) has been calling me that all day."
Stiner earned the nickname for his hard-charging blitz from the back end of the defense to the Bulldogs back field, where he took down quarterback Nick Fitzgerald for a 10-yard loss to give Florida the upset win.
