Turns out former UF kicker Eddy Piñeiro’s biggest highlight of last season came away from the football field.
Piñeiro and his father, Eddy Sr., intervened during an alleged assault of a female victim in Gainesville, allowing her to escape an attack from her boyfriend.
A third-team Associated Press All-America, Piñeiro and his father earned a service award from the Gainesville Police Department for “selfish acts and extreme bravery.”
"Everyone please read this!" Pineiro tweeted this past Sunday. "This is a perfect example of why you should never put your hands on a woman! You will go to jail for a long time!
