The Florida Gators can rest easy knowing they are not in the same boat as Florida State right now. While many fans may not be too happy with Scott Stricklin's decision to hire Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall to be the Gators' next head football coach, at least Florida didn't do what Florida State did.
After two seasons of not being bowl-eligible, Florida State fans were practically begging the administration to fire head coach Mike Norvell. Instead, the Seminoles announced he would return for the 2026 season. Many speculate that the reason for that decision is that Florida State doesn't have the money to afford Norvell's buyout right now.
