Florida Gators soccer falls to Miami 1-0 in overtime

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida soccer lost 1-0 in overtime to Miami Sunday afternoon at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.

It was the second consecutive Sunday afternoon with extra minutes, as the Gators tied Texas 1-all on Aug. 22

Sunday’s scoring:
The day’s only goal came with 19 seconds remaining in the first overtime. UM’s Taylor Shell caught up with Maria Jakobsdottir’s through ball, hitting a right-footed shot from the penalty spot.

Florida outshot the Hurricanes 14-9, with several good looks in the second half. In the 59th minute, Nicole Vernis’ eight-yard shot was saved by UM’s Melissa Dagenais.
