Adam Lane leaving the Florida Gators

Florida Gators redshirt sophomore running back Adam Lane has asked for and been granted a release from his scholarship by Jim McElwain and the University of Florida.

Lane had just eight carries for 72 yards before a breakout performance in the Birmingham Bowl where his 16 carries for 109 yards and a score earned him MVP honors of the game.

“Adam Lane has some family issues that he is dealing with ad wants to be closer to home,” McElwain said in a released statement. “As you’ve heard me say many times, family comes first in this program and we will grant him his release and we will do everything we can do to help him.
