Florida Gators Football Recruiting: Five-Star DE Byron Cowart Leaves Official Visit Early

Five-star Seffner (Fla.) defensive end Byron Cowart spent just 12 hours in Gainesville on his official visit to the University of Florida, before leaving for home after his mother was called into work.

The elite six-foot-four, 260-pound prospect posted this message on Twitter to explain himself while assuring everyone that the Florida Gators on the board with decision looming on National Signing Day (February 4th):

I would never handle myself unprofessionally (.) I spent an hour with Coach Mac before I left campus explaining why I had to leave early and explaining that I am still interested in the University of Florida and that I will take a week off from recruiting to spend with my family and my mother and pray about this decision (.) So to set the record straight Byron Cowart is still on the board and I will make my final decision on February 4th.

Ranked as the #3 overall prospect in the Class of 2015 by 247Sports, Cowart is expected to choose between a final three of Florida, Auburn, and Florida State.
