Wealth of strong RBs challenges FAU to create touches for them

The Florida Atlantic running backs’ meeting room is a diverse place.

Gregory “Buddy” Howell Jr. is the talkative one. He’s the bulldozing 215-pound senior who describes himself as the funny one of the group and dyes some of his dreadlocks red and blue. Howell’s practice cleats have nicknames — like “#OwlBoii,” “Savage,” “T-Rex” and “Slammer Hammer” — scrawled on them, among other things.

Devin “Motor” Singletary is the quiet one. He’s the agile 5-foot-9 sophomore whose nickname was once his father’s, passed down to him because of his quickness and drive. Singletary speaks in hushed tones that balance out Howell’s chatter.
