Finally, for Florida Atlantic and coach Lane Kiffin, the season is around the corner. The Owls open preseason camp on Thursday, beginning a slog of practices ahead of the season opener against Navy on Sept. 1 in Boca Raton.
In the seven months since his hiring, Kiffin has done the following: starred in a low-energy marketing video, hauled in Conference USA’s best recruiting class, been sued for fraud, overseen spring practice, offered scholarships to two middle-schoolers, held a camp with Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh and suspended receiver Kalib Woods pending battery charges.
But the end of July brings him closer to what FAU hired him for: the regular season.
