Partridge says Driskel is more 'game-ready' than Parr

Florida Atlantic named Jason Driskel its starting quarterback Tuesday afternoon, following a long competition with Daniel Parr that dated back to the beginning of spring practice.

Driskel, a redshirt sophomore, will start the season opener Sept. 3 against Southern Illinois, the school announced in a press release.

"I am proud of both quarterbacks and the entire football team for how they have handled the quarterback competition," coach Charlie Partridge said in a statement. "The entire body of work from January until now has been taken into account to make the decision. As we approach game week, the recent performances were weighted more heavily.
