Owls RB Howell breaks FAU's single-season record for rushing TDs

Florida Atlantic running back Gregory "Buddy" Howell broke the program's single-season record for rushing touchdowns by scoring his 12th of the season during the first quarter of Saturday's game against Old Dominion.

Howell's score, which put FAU up 7-0 on the game's opening drive, broke Alfred Morris' record of 11 touchdowns set in 2009. It came on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line as the Owls deployed defensive ends Trey Hendrickson and Nick Internicola to block for Howell.

Howell, a junior, has now scored a touchdown in nine of FAU's 11 games this season and entered Saturday with 723 rushing yards on the season.
