Owls hope tackling woes are behind them as Miami looms

When Florida Atlantic cornerback Shelton Lewis spun out of bounds during the waning moments of the second quarter of Saturday's season opener against Southern Illinois, he became the fourth and final victim.

Southern Illinois running back Daquan Isom was the tormentor. Missed tackles were the result. Isom either ran through or swiftly avoided four Owls during his 69-yard touchdown run Saturday night, a score that stole momentum from FAU with just eight seconds remaining in the half.

Poor tackling also led to a 54-yard SIU gain in the first quarter, setting up a Saluki touchdown and highlighting lackluster technique in the first half.
