Once overlooked, FAU's CJ Chatham now a top MLB prospect

CJ Chatham tried to play it cool when he received the first and only college scholarship offer during his recruitment process.

He was going to make Florida Atlantic wait three days before accepting. Turns out, even that was too long.

The day after, Chatham agreed to join the Owls program. Three years later, he's gone from an unwanted high school player to Major League Baseball prospect. A junior, Chatham leads the No. 21-ranked Owls with a .383 batting average entering this weekend's series at Marshall.

"I didn't get a lot of offers," said Chatham, who finished his prep career at American Heritage.
