North Texas’ backup quarterback Quinn Shanbour had a pair of rushing touchdowns in his only two series of the night before an injured Mason Fine returned to lead the Mean Green to a wild 41-38 win over Florida Atlantic University at Apogee Stadium.
Fine left the game with a wrist injury with 10:38 remaining in the third quarter but returned after an 8-yard Devin Singletary touchdown run pulled FAU within 34-31 with 2:32 left in the third.
The Owls (5-6, 3-4 Conference-USA) had an opportunity to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but Vladimir Rosas’ 41-yard field goal hit off the right side of the crossbar and fell to the ground with 8:07 to go in the fourth quarter.
