For Florida Atlantic quarterback Jason Driskel, shorter may mean better this spring.
Driskel is engulfed in a quarterback battle with junior college transfer De’Andre Johnson, a competition expected to extend into fall camp. But during a windy practice Thursday morning, Driskel impressed FAU coach Lane Kiffin.
“I thought Driskel made a lot of plays today, really has been doing well throughout the whole spring,” Kiffin said.
Kiffin said new offensive coordinator Kendal Briles’ offense has helped Driskel improve after eight spring practices. In Briles’ offense, Kiffin said, quarterbacks don’t drop back as much, and they are almost never under center.
