The magic was short-lived for Florida Atlantic's men's basketball team, falling flat in a 76-56 loss to Miami at the Watsco Center on Friday night.
The Owls, who 10 days ago knocked off Ohio State in Columbus, shot just 24 percent from the field in the first half, and 33 percent for the game. The Hurricanes shot 45 percent from the floor and outrebounded FAU, 48-29.
Guard Davon Reed led the Hurricanes (8-2) with 21 points, including 5 of 9 shooting from behind the arc. Freshman forward Dewan Huell fell one point shy of his first career double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds as Bruce Brown added 14 points.
