The new Florida Atlantic head coach used it to become the youngest NFL head coach ever, then he used it to reinvent Alabama’s offense over the past three seasons as its offensive coordinator. Kiffin has been called a “guru” and a “genius” because of his ability to coach offense.
FAU hired Kiffin in December, in part, because of his status as a quarterback whisperer.
But in his return to head coaching at FAU, Kiffin is stepping back from the offensive side of the ball and delegating play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Kendal Briles.
“That was part of hiring him was really wanting to be able to let someone run it,” Kiffin said after FAU’s practice Tuesday.
