In Florida Atlantic’s 52-33 win over Old Dominion, senior linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair was ejected after he was called for targeting on what would’ve been a sack of Monarchs quarterback Blake LaRussa.
While Al-Shaair, the Owls’ all-time leading tackler, may have led slightly with his helmet, LaRussa appeared to dip his head into the hit as he braced for contact from the charging Al-Shaair. Nonetheless, his helmet appeared to connect with LaRussa’s shoulder.

FAU coach Lane Kiffin commented on the decision to call the 6-foot-2, 228-pound linebacker for targeting, which was upheld after review, following the Conference USA game.
