Kerrith Whyte, running game a bright spot despite blowout loss for FAU

Florida Atlantic suffered its largest loss in program history Saturday, a 63-7 defeat against Kansas State, but not everything was gloom and doom for the Owls.

In limited carries, running back Kerrith Whyte contributed nicely, running for 54 yards on 10 carries. Greg "Buddy" Howell scored his fourth touchdown of the season with a fourth-quarter one-yard plunge. He had 34 yards on 13 carries.

Because the Owls trailed by so much so quickly (they were down 28-0 seven seconds into the second quarter), FAU coach Charlie Partridge said it was difficult to get the run game established.
