Florida Atlantic has never returned a kickoff for a touchdown, but redshirt freshman Kerrith Whyte has eyes on changing that.
Whyte is averaging 24.8 yards per kickoff this season — which would set a FAU season record — and twice set up the Owls beyond their 40-yard line during their loss to Old Dominion on Saturday night.
His 34-yard return on the opening kickoff put FAU on the 43-yard line and led to a touchdown. Another 34-yard return, this time on a third-quarter squib kick, pushed the Owls nearly to midfield and resulted in a field goal.
