It was easy for Florida Atlantic running back Devin “Motor” Singletary to sneak up on Conference USA last season.
He was a true freshman who started fall camp buried behind upperclassmen on the depth chart. His 5-foot-9 frame allowed coaches to overlook him. He only had 14 carries in his first four college games. Singletary was an unknown commodity.
But then the pint-sized pinball became one of the conference’s best players in the season’s final two months.
In the last eight games, Singletary rushed for 985 yards and 12 touchdowns, twice eclipsing the 200-yard mark.
