FSU overcomes cold start, wheres down FAU in Orange Bowl Classic

It was evident even before the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic got underway Saturday that the sport is a once-a-year proposition at the hockey home of the Florida Panthers.

The opening game between Florida State and Florida Atlantic at the BB&T Center was delayed 47 minutes due technical difficulties with the hydraulics controlling one of the baskets and again early in the half after an FSU player hung on the rim.

Whether or not bad karma with the basket — or the ice beneath the floor — had anything to do with FSU getting off to a 1-for-12 start shooting at the balky basket and finishing the half a frigid 26 percent is speculative.
