BOCA RATON — An unexpected song on Florida Atlantic’s practice playlist this week has managed to hit home for wide receiver Jovon Durante.
It’s not the sounds of rappers Ace Hood or Kodak Black – who, like Durante, hail from Broward County – that have the redshirt junior feeling nostalgic. Of all songs, Durante started smiling at a nearly 50-year old track by John Denver where he croons about the country roads of West Virginia.
Durante understands why the Owls (3-3, 1-1 in Conference USA play) are using Denver’s 1971 song “Take Me Home, Country Roads” to prepare for Saturday’s showdown against Marshall (4-2, 2-1).
