Florida Atlantic looks for short-term fix at center after losing All-Conference USA star Antonyo Woods

BOCA RATON — Florida Atlantic head coach Lane Kiffin is opting to play the short-term game with one of the Owls’ most important positions.

After losing All-Conference USA center Antonyo Woods (Seminole Ridge) to graduation, Kiffin elected to add former Tulane center Raul “Junior” Diaz as a graduate student and also sign JUCO prospect Zack Bennett (Arizona Western C.C.) as possible replacements. The Owls did not sign a true center out of high school in this year’s recruiting class.

A veteran center who started 28 games in three seasons at Tulane, Diaz played high school locally at Miami Central, winning state titles in 2012 and 2013 alongside current Owls All-CUSA left tackle Reggie Bain.
