Florida Atlantic defensive tackle Steven Leggett calls them his "combat weapons." He keeps his knees bent and his shoulders back, allowing him to strike and leverage his way through the trenches.
At times in the past, those tools adandoned the 6-foot-1, 270-pound sophomore. His concentration would fade as he tired and his skills would erode. Leggett would try to focus, but could not consistently.
Leggett singled out that part of his game as an area of improvement, one that will need to progress as he assumes a greater role on defense. He will step into the hole vacated by Ray Ellis, who will miss the season with a knee injury, and help anchor the middle of FAU's line alongside Shalom Ogbonda.
