FAU starting LB Nate Ozdemir out for the season with a foot injury

Florida Atlantic starting middle linebacker Nate Ozdemir is out for the rest of the season with a foot injury, coach Charlie Partridge said Monday morning.

Ozdemir, a redshirt junior, did not play in FAU's 42-25 win at Rice on Saturday because of the injury sustained against Western Kentucky. Sophomore Jacob Douglas started in his place and had seven tackles.

Douglas was ejected late in the fourth quarter after he was flagged for targeting Rice receiver Nate German. Douglas will subsequently miss the first half of FAU's game against UTEP on Saturday.

Partridge said the Owls would look at a few options at middle linebacker to start the game, including Jerrad Ward (typically a weakside linebacker) and Khantrell Burden (typically a strongside linebacker).
