Five preseason practices into the quarterback competition between Jason Driskel and De’Andre Johnson, a common thread has emerged: overthrows.
Both quarterbacks have been guilty of overthrowing their intended targets, most notably on balls down the sideline or down the field. FAU coach Lane Kiffin acknowledged the overthrows and said they are worse than underthrowing a receiver.
“We have had a lot of that,” Kiffin said. “We need to work on that because we don’t want overthrows because I can’t catch an overthrow. At least underthrows, I got a chance to make it, [pass interference] or go up and get it.
