For Nate Ozdemir, the goal was never to make it to the National Football League. For the Florida Atlantic linebacker, his post-graduate plans never included football — only the military.
Ozdemir will now pursue a career in the United State military, and has stopped playing football for the Owls. The decision was made final earlier this week.
“This is my NFL,” Ozdemir said. “This is what I want to do after college. I didn’t want to pursue the NFL. This is what I’ve wanted my whole life is to go be a soldier.”
Ozdemir said his goal was to complete Officer Candidate School (OCS) with the Marine Corps in Quantico, Va.
