A smile swept across Florida Atlantic offensive coordinator Travis Trickett's face on Wednesday morning. He was talking about his pair of running backs — Gregory "Buddy" Howell Jr. and Devin "Motor" Singletary — and their performances in FAU's 42-25 win over Rice on Saturday.
Singletary set a program single-game record for rushing yards (257), while the team rushed for the most yards (336) since FAU became a FBS program. So Trickett's facial expression was both expected and deserved.
"Both of those guys can make a play call look really good," Trickett said.
Singletary, a freshman from American Heritage-Delray, was not expected to submit this kind of performance so early in his collegiate career.
