FAU coach Lane Kiffin prioritizes defensive line for second straight recruiting class

BOCA RATON — Gaining depth along the defensive line remained a priority in coach Lane Kiffin’s second Florida Atlantic recruiting class.

Four of the Owls’ 17 announced newcomers on Wednesday are defensive linemen, with Lyman defensive end Deon Woods expected to increase that total when his paperwork clears. Defensive tackle Charles Cameron (Copiah-Lincoln C.C., Miss.) and defensive end Franklin “Tre” Jackson (West Orange) each signed in December during the early signing period.

“When we came here, there was a lot of really good skilled players,” Kiffin said Wednesday. “Some good linemen, some older ones, too, especially the three seniors (Jakobi Smith, as well as Seminole Ridge graduates Antonyo Woods and Roman Fernandez), in the middle of the offensive line.
