Florida Atlantic’s receiving corps received a significant boost when junior college transfer DeAndre McNeal practiced for the first time on Saturday morning.

McNeal’s paperwork hadn’t cleared him to practice during FAU’s first two preseason camp practices on Thursday and Friday. McNeal figures to be the Owls’ No. 1 receiver with the absences of Kalib Woods and Kamrin Solomon.

“It was really good to have him out there, this was a premier kid,” FAU coach Lane Kiffin said.

McNeal transferred to FAU from Fullerton College (Calif.) after originally attending Texas. In Austin, he was suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules before leaving the program.
