Redshirt sophomore quarterback Daniel Parr earned the start in Florida Atlantic’s season opener against Navy on Friday night, winning the quarterback competition over Jason Driskel and De’Andre Johnson.
For Parr, a Dwyer graduate, it was his second career start.
Parr began preseason camp as a dark-horse candidate to win the starting job after he missed all of spring practice with a foot injury. Driskel and Johnson split reps with the first-team offense while Parr toiled on the other field with the third-teamers.
“For me to sit here and say I deserve to be the starter, that’d be kind of arrogant and cocky,” Parr said earlier this week.
